• Minimum 2 years of experience as Project Manager with 2 years experience managing a software development team of 10+ staff.

DST Worldwide Services Thailand Donate Funds for New Santhong Wittaya School Library

Recently, DST Worldwide Services (Thailand) executives, together with Judy Benn, Executive Director of AMCHAM and Vice President of the AMCHAM Thailand Charitable Foundation, attended the official opening of a new library at Santhong Wittaya School.  

The library was donated as part of an Adopt-A-School program. DST Worldwide Services Thailand contributed 169,501 THB (equal to approximately $5,300 USD).  A matching contribution was given by the AMCHAM Thailand Charitable Foundation to help build the library and purchase new books.   

The event started with a welcome show from students who performed traditional Thai dancing. This was   followed by an opening ceremony where John Marshall – Regional Human Resources & Training Manager Asia and Gary Wells – Systems Development Director, participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.  In a motivational speech to the students, Marshall emphasized the importance of reading and how “Reading is the Window to the World”.

Santhong Wittaya School is located in a remote valley in Tha Wang Pha district, surrounded by mountains covered with forests. The valley lies within Nan Province in the northern part of Thailand, bordering with the Mekong River of Laos and is a natural habitat of wild elephants. 

The school has approximately 200 students with classes for children ages 5-15.  The growing number of new students emphasized the need for more books and additional space for their education.

DST Worldwide Services (Thailand) joined the ‘180-years of Thai-US friendship Charity fun-run’

Recently – DST Worldwide Services Thailand executives together with 40 associates joined the ‘180-years of Thai-US friendship charity fun run’ at Lumpini Park, Bangkok, Thailand. This activity was hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) together with US Embassy and the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Proceeds from this event will go to build a playground at Ban Wangnamkhaochanoopatam School in Nong Bualamphu Province. Over 500 people took part in the run, including the United States Ambassador to the Royal Kingdom of Thailand – Kristie A. Kenney and the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow.

DST Worldwide Services Thailand Coral Planting Project 2013

On August 31, 2013 – DST Worldwide Services Thailand executives, together with over 100 volunteer associates from DST’s Bangkok office, created the DST Coral Planting Project 2013 in Chong Sa Mae San, Sattahip, Chon Buri province located in the northeast part of Thailand. This was organized by the DST Worldwide Services’ activity team and the Foundation of Marine Science Activities and Conservation.

Long ago, Chong Sa Mae San village, Sattahip was a village famous for its fishing. A great deal of seafood came from Sattahip and was distributed throughout Thailand and neighboring countries. As time went by, the sea and the coral reef in Chong Sa Mae San deteriorated through pollution, global warming and other human activities including destructive fishing methods (use of explosives, cyanide fishing or electric shock fishing). The DST Coral Planting Project 2013 was created to rehabilitate the marine ecosystem in Chong Sa Mae San, raise environmental awareness and build collaborative relationships and team engagement among associates.

The director of the Rare Marine Life Conservation Foundation kicked off the project by providing information to the DST associates about the types of coral reefs in the gulf of Thailand and the causes of their destruction. Russ Hippe, DST Thailand Country Head, presented a 10,000 THB (Thai Baht) donation to support the Rare Marine Life Conservation Fund: 5,000 THB was from revenue from Deep Blue Sea T-shirt sales and DST made up the remaining 5,000 THB through its matching gift program.

After the presentation, DSTWS senior executives and associates released 12 nurse sharks into the sea and then snorkeled to explore the marine ecosystem. Some associates participated in skin diving to a floating platform where they planted young coral in PVC pipes. Ten coral fields were planted. After that, trained divers took the PVC coral fields down to an assigned zone at the bottom of the ocean. All-in-all, the DST associates had a great time and considered the project a success.
